Anti Phishing - Creating barriers for protection against a sophisticated electronic crime

Working with a major UK bank to understand the patterns in phishing - the aim was to understand the crime and the people perpetrating it. On this basis a financial institution can build better defences making it much less likely that they would be targeted. It became obvious that this is a crime with many patterns - when and from where perpetrators are operating; location and profile of mules and victims etc. Applying Antelect revealed previously unseen and undetected intelligence.

Antelect was applied to the underlying data from multiple sources and on the basis of the initial analysis it became clear that more data was needed - Antelect provided a very fast and simple means of integrating that new data to the work already done - no redevelopment was required - and most importantly enabled the intelligence and training of the investigators to be brought to bear on the crime in conjunction with the data.

Why Antelect?

  • The sophistication of the PC tool - the ability to easily understand and filter information and to observe patterns and to uncover weak links hidden deep within the information.
  • The range of data Antelect can handle.
  • Supportable, industry standard database technology.
  • The modeling capability. It is designed to allow rapid modeling of data by the people who need to use the information and for users to "re-arrange" a model extremely quickly. This creates an environment whereby the investigation team can respond rapidly to new ideas and concepts in their attempts to understand the crime.
